Walter Alexander Sorto

Hi, my name is Walter Alexander Sorto. I’m 44 years old and am from El Salvador, Central America. At this moment, I’m writing a few words to request friends, people who wish to share a little of their time with me, here in this lonely Texas prison. I’m a prisoner condemned to death for more than 18 years, almost 20 years a prisoner total. The situation here is very difficult, and that’s why I’m asking people to write me, so that I can again socialize with the rest of the world. I have no particular race in mind, everyone is welcome. Life’s hard without family support — mine is in El Salvador, so I’m alone. Lately I’ve been very depressed. Being locked up hurts me mentally — this place is like torture. You have to be really strong, but I almost don’t have the strength anymore to fight for my life. I don’t feel any enthusiasm, I pray that God gives me the strength to keep on each day. In the free world I like fishing a lot. I also helped the needy and liked volunteering. I’ve always felt the need to serve others no matter who, as those were values that I learned from my maternal grandparents. I was abandoned as a baby and they were my parents. They are no longer with us, but they remain in my heart and I know that they watch over me from heaven. I remember them with much love. I like reading, writing, and exercising a lot. To help myself mentally, I like making other people laugh. I am also very sincere and appreciate that in others. I think that there is nothing better than that people be sincere in everything. I think that is the right way. I wish wholeheartedly to receive someday even just a little note from someone who also wishes to be with me in the solitude. You have no idea how good it feels when they tell you there is mail. There are just two things here that produce happiness: when there is a visitor and when there is mail.
